Pipeline Inbox for GitHub Actions Workflows
A free workflow run inbox in IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, Rider and the other JetBrains IDEs, for GitHub Actions: the runs you care about from every repository you work in, on one dashboard in an IDE tool window — pushed or started by you, of your commits, on the branch you have checked out, failed, or waiting for your review — with their jobs, steps and logs. A GitHub Actions integration for your workflow runs, without leaving the IDE. No AI features, no telemetry.

Pull requests on GitHub waiting for your review, in the same IDE: our GitHub pull request plugin.

Runs
- This project's repositories without setting anything: read from its Git remotes, forks included
- More repositories by pasting owner/repository or any address from the browser, or every repository of an organization; with a token, also the ones you were active in lately
- Filters: mine (pushed or started by you, or of your commits), my current branch, failed, waiting for review
- Each row: status, workflow and run number, the title, branch, what started it, the attempt, how long it took and when
- A CI build monitor for GitHub Actions: a notification when a run of yours or of your current branch finishes, with a link to the failed job's log; the current branch's runs in the status bar
Details and logs
- The commit, the pull request, who started it, and the workflow file (opened in the editor when the project has it)
- Jobs with their steps, status, duration and runner; failed jobs open first
- Job logs in a console viewer at the bottom, with colours, groups and error lines marked, searchable; double-click a step to open the log where it starts. A run older than the repository's log retention has no log left ("HTTP 410: Server Error")
Acting
- Re-run failed jobs, all jobs, or one job, with debug logging if you like (what debug logging adds, and ACTIONS_STEP_DEBUG)
- Cancel a running run (when a run will not stop, and force-cancel; a job stuck on "Waiting for a runner to pick up this job")
- Run Workflow: any workflow with a
workflow_dispatchtrigger, on a branch or tag, with a field for each input (text, choice, checkbox, number, environment), defaults filled in and the values remembered if you like (when GitHub answers "Workflow does not have 'workflow_dispatch' trigger") - Approve or reject deployments waiting for your review, with a comment (who can approve, and why GitHub may not let you)
GitHub re-runs a run only up to 30 days after its first run; for an older one it answers "Unable to retry this workflow run because it was created over a month ago" (how to run the workflow again).
Free and paid
Free: the run history across repositories, jobs and steps, job logs, notifications and the status bar. Paid, with a 30-day free trial: re-run jobs, cancel runs, run workflows and review deployments. Licenses are sold through JetBrains Marketplace: US$1.50 a month or US$15 a year for individuals, US$3 a month or US$30 a year per user for organizations (Marketplace shows the price in your currency). Reading is free for everyone, so in a team only the people who re-run, cancel, start workflows or approve deployments from the IDE need a license. When the trial or a license ends, reading keeps working; only those actions lock.
Buying for a team: an organization license is managed in JetBrains Account, where an administrator assigns it to developers; the on-premises JetBrains License Server can serve it too. Pay by card or PayPal; for a purchase order or a bank transfer, ask for a quote with Get Quote on the plugin's Marketplace pricing page.
Install
Install it from JetBrains Marketplace, or in your IDE open Settings | Plugins | Marketplace and search for Pipeline Inbox for GitHub Actions Workflows. Open Workflow Runs in the right tool window bar: this project's repositories are already in it. Click Add Repositories for more.
Works with
- github.com, GitHub Enterprise Server (
https://github.example.com) and GHE.com, any number of hosts, each with its own token - Public repositories on github.com without a token (GitHub allows 60 requests an hour that way, and no logs)
- Few requests: lists are read with the answer's ETag, so an unchanged list costs nothing against GitHub's hourly limit
- The IDE's proxy settings (including proxy authentication) and trusted certificates, for self-signed or company certificates
- Every JetBrains IDE with Git support: IntelliJ IDEA, Rider, PyCharm, WebStorm, GoLand, PhpStorm, CLion, RubyMine and others. It does not depend on the IDE's bundled GitHub plugin.
Token
For private repositories, job logs and the paid actions, create a personal access token on your GitHub host. Fine-grained: Actions read and write, Contents read, and Deployments read and write (to review deployments), for the repositories you choose. Or classic: the repo and workflow scopes. Read-only access is enough for everything free. Enter it in Settings | Tools | Pipeline Inbox for GitHub Actions, for each host: each token is kept in the IDE's password safe and sent only to its own host. A job's log is read from the address GitHub hands out for it, without the token. Without a token, GitHub's API refuses logs with "Must have admin rights to Repository.", even for public repositories (what it means). A fine-grained token that answers "Resource not accessible by personal access token" lacks a permission the action needs, or does not reach the repository (how to tell which).
No AI features, no cloud of ours
The plugin talks only to the GitHub hosts in its settings, and to GitHub's log storage for a job's log. Your code and logs are not sent to any AI service or to any server of ours, and there is no telemetry.
