Bitbucket pull requests in PyCharm
PyCharm 2026.2 reviews GitHub pull requests and GitLab merge requests by itself. Bitbucket pull requests it does not: JetBrains' support article SUPPORT-A-2412 says JetBrains IDEs have no out-of-the-box support for them and points to third-party plugins on the Marketplace, and the feature request IJPL-72762 (415 votes) is Shelved. PyCharm's Git works with Bitbucket repositories as with any other: clone, commit, push, pull, branches and merges.
Pull Request Inbox for Bitbucket, a plugin by Lesstep, adds the pull requests: what is waiting for your review, the diff with its comments, and approving and merging, in PyCharm and the other JetBrains IDEs 2024.1 or later, on Bitbucket Cloud and Data Center (beta). Reading is free.

In PyCharm with this plugin
- Open Settings | Plugins | Marketplace, search for Pull Request Inbox for Bitbucket and install it. JetBrains' Plugin Verifier finds it compatible with PyCharm 2024.1.7, the oldest release it supports, and with PyCharm 2026.2.3 (version 1.0.51, checked October 27, 2026).
- Open a project cloned from bitbucket.org or from your Bitbucket Data Center (8.9 or later; set the server's address in the plugin settings). Every Bitbucket clone in the project is listed.
- On Bitbucket Cloud, create an Atlassian API token with scopes for Bitbucket (read:pullrequest, read:repository and read:user to read; write:pullrequest to approve, comment and merge as well; how to create one) and enter your Atlassian email and the token in Settings | Tools | Pull Request Inbox for Bitbucket. On Data Center, a personal HTTP access token. Both are kept in the IDE's password safe; public repositories can be read without one.
- Find Bitbucket PRs in the right tool window bar: the pull requests waiting for your review, with what is new since you last looked. Open one to step through all its changed files in one diff viewer, comment threads in the gutter.
When Git in PyCharm stops signing in to Bitbucket Cloud
- "The requested URL returned error: 410": the saved password is an app password, and Bitbucket Cloud removed them on July 28, 2026. Git needs an API token now, and PyCharm usually does not ask for a new one by itself (switching Git to an API token).
- Git Credential Manager's browser login: from November 30, 2026, Bitbucket Cloud blocks it in Git Credential Manager older than 3.0.0, and PyCharm runs the Git installed on your computer (who is affected and the two ways out).
- Git over SSH is affected by neither.
