Bitbucket pull requests in Android Studio
Android Studio clones, pulls and pushes Bitbucket repositories as plain Git, but it has no view of Bitbucket pull requests: JetBrains IDEs have no built-in support for them, and JetBrains' support article SUPPORT-A-2412 points to plugins on JetBrains Marketplace. Which of those plugins Marketplace offers depends on your Android Studio version: Bitbucket Integration Pro starts at Panda (2025.3), and Koala and Ladybug get the fewest.

From JetBrains Marketplace's compatibleUpdates API, asked on October 28, 2026 for Android Studio builds of each platform from 2024.1 (Koala) to 2026.2 (Rabbit); the platforms are from JetBrains' list of Android Studio releases. What each plugin does is compared on Bitbucket pull requests in IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm. Ours: JetBrains' Plugin Verifier found version 1.0.22 compatible with Android Studio Otter 2025.2.1 and Rabbit 1 2026.2.1 (October 23, 2026).
Git in Android Studio after app passwords
Older answers about pushing from Android Studio to Bitbucket say to use an app password. Bitbucket Cloud has refused them since July 28, 2026: pull and push answer The requested URL returned error: 410. Use an Atlassian API token with read:repository:bitbucket (and write:repository:bitbucket to push), and the username x-bitbucket-api-token-auth in the remote's address (how to switch).
If Git signs in through Git Credential Manager's browser login instead, it needs version 3.0.0 or newer by November 30, 2026 (details). Android Studio runs the Git installed on your computer, so both apply to it.
In Android Studio with this plugin
- Install Pull Request Inbox for Bitbucket from Settings | Plugins | Marketplace.
- Open a project cloned from Bitbucket Cloud or your Bitbucket Data Center (set its address in the plugin settings).
- Create an Atlassian API token with read:pullrequest, read:repository and read:user (add write:pullrequest to approve, comment and merge) and enter your Atlassian email and the token in Settings | Tools | Pull Request Inbox for Bitbucket. It is kept in the IDE's password safe. This token is separate from the one Git uses.
- Pull requests waiting for your review appear in the Bitbucket PRs tool window on the right.
Free and Pro
Free: the review inbox, diffs, viewed marks, discussions, merge checks, builds, checking out the source branch and resolving merge conflicts. Pro, with a 30-day free trial: approve, request changes, comment, reply, resolve, merge, add reviewers, edit, decline and create pull requests. US$1.50 a month or US$15 a year for individuals, US$3 a month or US$30 a year per user for organizations, through JetBrains Marketplace (it shows the price in your currency).
Paid plugins in Android Studio are licensed through JetBrains Marketplace Licensing, a plugin from JetBrains that Android Studio does not include. If it is missing or switched off, Pull Request Inbox for Bitbucket says so when you use a Pro action, and how to install it (Settings | Plugins, the Marketplace tab), instead of failing silently.
