Bitbucket Pipelines in IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm and other JetBrains IDEs
JetBrains IDEs bundle no Bitbucket plugin: IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3 has none among its 152 bundled plugins, and the request to integrate with Bitbucket Pipelines (IDEA-176449, filed in July 2017) was closed as a third-party problem. Following pipelines, reading their step logs and starting or stopping them is left to plugins on JetBrains Marketplace. These are the general options for that we found. All of them are for Bitbucket Cloud: Bitbucket Data Center has no Pipelines.
Disclosure: Lesstep makes one of them (Pipeline Inbox for Bitbucket Pipelines). The others are described from their JetBrains Marketplace pages (descriptions, change notes, version lists and US prices). Where those do not say something, this page says "not stated in its description" instead of guessing. Atlassian and Bitbucket are trademarks of Atlassian. Pipeline Inbox for Bitbucket Pipelines is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Atlassian. Corrections are welcome at support@lesstep.com. 日本語
Which one fits
- You want your workspace's pipelines, their steps and logs in the IDE, for free: Bitbucket Pipelines (free) shows the workspace of the project's Git remote as a tree, from Bitbucket project to repository, pipeline and step, with the selected step's log beside it, updated in place while it runs. Pipeline Inbox (ours) is free for reading too: pipelines, steps and their commands, and step logs, live while a step runs.
- You want the pipelines you care about from many repositories in one list: Pipeline Inbox (ours) takes this project's repositories from its Git remotes and adds any repository you paste (workspace/repository or its address), every repository of a workspace, or, signed in, your workspaces' recently updated ones; filters show pipelines started by you, of your current branch, failed, or running, and a failed pipeline shows the command it failed at first. Bitbucket Pipelines has a filter box that narrows its tree as you type and a setting that hides whole Bitbucket projects.
- You want to run or stop a pipeline from the IDE: Bitbucket Pipelines (free) starts a pipeline on any branch, optionally on a commit or a custom pipeline, and stops a running one, each after a confirmation. Pipeline Inbox (ours, paid, 30-day trial) runs a branch's own pipeline or a custom one with a field for each variable it declares, runs a pipeline again and stops it. Pull Request Viewer (paid) reruns or cancels pipelines from a pull request. Bitbucket's API cannot start a paused manual step or re-run only the failed steps, so none of them does; Pipeline Inbox links a paused manual step to Bitbucket.
- You review pull requests in the IDE and want their pipelines there: Pull Request Viewer for Bitbucket, GitHub & Azure DevOps (paid, 30-day trial) has CI triage in its pull request review: a pull request's Bitbucket Pipelines runs, steps, logs, test details where Bitbucket reports them and annotations.
- You want a notification when a pipeline finishes: Pipeline Inbox (ours) notifies when a pipeline you started or of your current branch finishes, with a link to the failed step's log, and shows your current branch's pipeline in the status bar. For Bitbucket Pipelines and Pull Request Viewer, notifications are not stated in their descriptions.
- You mainly write
bitbucket-pipelines.yml: Bitbucket Linky (free, 909,235 downloads) adds completion, navigation and validation for it; its latest version, from October 2024, supports IDEs up to 2026.2. The IDE's own JSON Schema support can also use the schemastore.org catalog (Settings | Languages & Frameworks | Schemas and DTDs | Remote JSON Schemas), which mapsbitbucket-pipelines.ymlto Bitbucket's own schema. - You are on IDE 2024.1 to 2024.2: Bitbucket Pipelines and Pipeline Inbox (ours) support 2024.1 and later; Pull Request Viewer starts at 2024.3.
- You want a plugin whose own description says it has no AI features and no telemetry: Pipeline Inbox for Bitbucket Pipelines (Lesstep's). Bitbucket Pipelines has Suggest Fix, which sends a failed step's log, secrets masked, to a local command-line tool or the Claude API; it is off until you choose one. Bitbucket Linky reports anonymous usage of its features to the author through Amplitude. Pull Request Viewer lists no AI features and says nothing about telemetry.
The main options
Built into JetBrains IDEs
- IDEs
- IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3 was checked: no Bitbucket plugin among its 152 bundled plugins.
- Pipelines
- No list of pipelines, steps or logs.
- Pipelines file
- The JSON Schema settings (Remote JSON Schemas) have "Use schemastore.org JSON Schema catalog"; that catalog maps
bitbucket-pipelines.ymlto Bitbucket's schema, which gives completion and validation. - Open requests
- In JetBrains' issue tracker on October 28, 2026: "Integrate with BitBucket pipelines" (IDEA-176449, filed July 23, 2017) is closed as Third Party Problem.
- Price
- Included with the IDE.
Bitbucket Pipelines
- IDEs
- 2024.1 and later; version 0.7.3 of September 16, 2026.
- Bitbucket
- Bitbucket Cloud. The workspace is read from the project's Git remote; an Atlassian API token with your account email, or a workspace access token on its own, kept in the IDE's password safe.
- Pipelines
- A tool window with the workspace as a tree (Bitbucket project, repository, pipeline, step) and the selected step's log beside it, or in a read-only editor tab; a running pipeline's step statuses, progress and log update in place. Pipelines are read when a repository is expanded and refreshed while it stays open. A filter box, a setting that hides whole projects, and the repository of the file you are editing selected for you. Start a pipeline on any branch, optionally on a commit or a custom pipeline, or stop a running one, each after a confirmation; variables for a custom pipeline are not stated in its description.
- Also
- Suggest Fix: a failed step's log, secrets masked, analysed by a local command-line tool or the Claude API, off until you choose one; answers cached per step.
- Price
- Free.
Pull Request Viewer for Bitbucket, GitHub & Azure DevOps
- IDEs
- IntelliJ IDEA, according to its description; 2024.3 and later, version 2026.4.0 of October 15, 2026.
- Bitbucket
- Bitbucket Cloud, GitHub and Azure DevOps Services, chosen in its settings.
- Pipelines
- Part of its pull request review: CI triage shows a pull request's Bitbucket Pipelines runs, steps, logs, test details where Bitbucket reports them and annotations, and reruns, cancels or queues work where the provider supports it. A list of pipelines outside pull requests is not stated in its description.
- Also
- Mainly pull request review: native diffs, inline comments, review decisions and review tracking.
- Price
- Paid: $15 a year for individuals, $30 a year for organizations, 30-day trial; its tool windows stay hidden until a trial or license is active.
Pipeline Inbox for Bitbucket Pipelines (Lesstep)
- IDEs
- 2024.1 and later: IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, Rider, GoLand, PhpStorm, CLion, RubyMine and the other JetBrains IDEs with Git. It does not depend on any other Bitbucket plugin.
- Bitbucket
- Bitbucket Cloud, any number of workspaces: your Atlassian email and an API token, or a repository, project or workspace access token, in the IDE's password safe; public repositories without signing in. The IDE's proxy settings and trusted certificates are used.
- Pipelines
- One list across this project's repositories (from its Git remotes) and the ones you add: by workspace/repository or address, every repository of a workspace, or signed in your workspaces' recently updated ones. Filters for pipelines started by you, your current branch, failed, and running. Per pipeline: the commit, the pull request, who started it, the build minutes and
bitbucket-pipelines.yml; steps with their commands, and the command a step failed at with its last words at the top; step logs with each command and error lines marked, searchable, growing while a step runs. A notification when a pipeline you started or of your current branch finishes, and your current branch's pipeline in the status bar. - Also
- No AI features and no telemetry; its page says it talks only to api.bitbucket.org, and to Bitbucket's log storage for a finished step's log, which is read without your sign-in. English and Japanese.
- Price
- Reading is free: the pipeline list, steps, logs, notifications and the status bar. Running a pipeline with its variables, running it again and stopping it: $1.50 a month or $15 a year for individuals, $3 a month or $30 a year for organizations, 30-day trial.
Smaller or narrower entries also exist. Bitbucket Linky (free; version 2023.1.304, October 9, 2024, for IDE 2023.1 to 2026.2) copies and opens Bitbucket links, finds the pull requests of a commit, and adds completion, navigation and validation for bitbucket-pipelines.yml.
Lesstep's Pull Request Inbox for Bitbucket shows the builds of a pull request in its review inbox.
Plugins for Bitbucket pull requests that do not mention pipelines or builds in their descriptions (Bitbucket Integration Pro, BitBucket Pull Requests, PR Desk for Bitbucket Cloud and others), Atlassian Assistant (Bitbucket pull requests, Jira issues and Jenkins builds), multi-CI notifiers whose descriptions do not list Bitbucket Pipelines (CIclone among them), and plugins that name Bitbucket Pipelines only as a CI their own tool can run in, are left out; this page keeps to general tools for following Bitbucket Pipelines in the IDE.
